FORT SMITH, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — The Fort Smith Board of Directors will vote Tuesday, Oct. 14, on annexing a 45-acre unincorporated area near Highway 271 and Texas Road.

The area includes 20 parcels, nine residential and eleven non-residential.

"As Fort Smith has grown and expanded its incorporated area several unincorporated enclaves remain," read a memorandum included in the upcoming meeting's agenda. "Historically, the City has annexed land at the request of property owners, not as a direct action of the City.
