BENTONVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Sanctuary is a ten-week, healing-centered dance program for survivors of human trafficking, domestic abuse and sexual assault.
Through therapeutic movement, somatic practices and creative expression, participants reconnect with their bodies, reclaim their voices and rediscover community.
The birth of Sanctuary
"A lot of the participants do feel out of touch with their body—or numb, or lacking a sense of control… They might lack the feeling that they can trust their intuition because they've been violated in such a horrible way," dance instructor Cece Marie said.
The program was born from Marie’s own story. A survivor of domestic abuse, she performed a piece on grief at the 2024 Unbroken event. • Sexual assault survivors' art displayed at the NWA Center
