Independent Senator Lidia Thorpe has been blasted for her threat to "burn down Parliament House" for Palestine, as her future in the Senate is called into question.
Ms Thorpe made the controversial remarks at a pro-Palestine march in Melbourne on Sunday , where she was one of a number of speakers to address rally attendees.
During her address, Ms Thorpe compared the situation in Gaza to the fight for Indigenous rights in Australia.
Speaking to Sky News on Monday, Liberal Senator Jane Hume called for a harsher response to be taken towards Senator Thorpe over the highly-charged comments.
Ms Hume described the Independent Senator’s comments as an “extraordinary outburst” while slamming Labor over its response.
