A stubborn coastal storm continues to churn just off our shoreline this evening, pushing light rain and gusty winds across Eastern North Carolina. This system has lingered for days, bringing everything from coastal flooding and overwash along NC-12 to high surf and rough seas. The good news: it’s finally on the move.

Through tonight, expect scattered light showers or drizzle with gusts around 30–40 mph, especially along the coast. Winds begin to ease late tonight as the storm drifts east. Overnight lows fall into the upper 50s inland and mid-60s along the Outer Banks.
