GULFPORT, Miss. (WLOX) - First United Methodist Church in Gulfport is making worship more accessible, specifically for families who face cognitive and physical differences.
For five years, Deanna Defelippo has found more than comfort inside the walls of the Church. Like many others here, she is embracing a new style of worship that is inclusive.
“This is just the place where it just feels like it’s right,” Defelippo said.
Defelippo is a mother to two, with one having special needs. She says this sensory-sensitive service just adds to what makes the church welcoming.
“It’s the community, we always feel like you have somebody who has your back,” she said. “So you can always come up here, and there’s people here that if you are having any issues, to talk to.”
