Strathaven has celebrated over two decades as a Fairtrade Town. ‌

In 2002 the town became one of the first in Scotland, along with Aberfeldy, to achieve this status. ‌

Becoming a Fairtrade Town was marked by the installation of a Fairtrade bench in the Common Green in the town centre by Strathaven Fairtrade Group. ‌

The town has many outlets, both independent shops and larger supermarket chains, which continue to offer a wide range of Fairtrade goods and produce.

A spokesperson for Strathaven Fairtrade said: “The outstanding bench design is an attractive addition to the facilities in the area.
