White Rock school awarded for math achievement
Piñon Elementary School in White Rock has been awarded a 2025 Spark Change Award for being the highest-performing school in mathematics for students with disabilities, reporting a 34.3% proficiency rate in the 2023-24 school year.
Principal Ivanna Austell said in a news release she was “thrilled and honored” to accept the award, calling it a reflection of “the hard work and dedication of our teachers, staff and families” and “the perseverance and growth of our students.”
Los Alamos Public Schools Superintendent Jennifer Guy said in the release she was proud of the “great learning happening at this school.”
