A “caring and conscientious” helper has been named Age Scotland’s Volunteer of the Year. ‌

Brian Monnier has been a volunteer with Dumfries and Galloway Hard of Hearing Group (DGHHG) for more than 10 years and is currently the group’s treasurer. ‌

He volunteers at three hearing aid clinics a month and last year dealt with more than 400 hearing aids, ensuring their owners didn’t have to make a lengthy trip to have them maintained. ‌

And it was his “invaluable” service to the group which saw him win the award.
