HAYTI, Mo. (KAIT) - Police in Hayti are asking the public for help in a search for a shooting suspect.

Police are looking for Austin T. Proby, 26, who is wanted for a shooting incident that happened around 1:09 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, on the 1200 block of West Washington Street.

Hayti police said Proby has been charged with first-degree assault, a Class A Felony, and multiple other felony charges.

Police consider Proby armed and dangerous and ask the public not to approach him.

Proby has a history with law enforcement; he was arrested on Feb. 15, 2025, for an outstanding warrant related to a Violation of the Order of Protection.
