Why would you not vote to decrease your real estate taxes in 2026? You have that opportunity by voting no on 7B.
The Basalt Regional Library already has adequate reserves, $3,155,854 in total cash and $1,371,290 in the unassigned/unrestricted general fund. Per the library board’s message on finances concerning these balances, “This is 76% of the previous year’s budgeted expenses, or a nine-month reserve, which is well above the requirements in our investment policy.”
The large increase in reassessment of property values in 2025 will result in even more tax revenue in 2026 for the library’s use, plus it will ensure that you are already facing an increase in your real estate tax due in 2026.
Give yourself a tax break by voting no on 7B.
