TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA)— Tropical Storm Lorenzo has formed in the central tropical Atlantic, the National Hurricane Center announced.
Located about 1095 miles west of the Cabo Verde Islands, Lorenzo is moving toward the northwest at about 17 mph.
The northwest motion with some gradual slowdown is expected through tonight before a turn northward on Tuesday.
According to the NHC, little strengthening is expected today, but some gradual intensification is possible by the middle part of the week.
Maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph.
There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect.
