Former India coach Ravi Shastri has highlighted that the ODI future of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma remains uncertain. He believes the upcoming three-match series against Australia will be critical in determining whether the two veterans continue toward the 2027 World Cup in South Africa. While Shastri emphasized their unmatched experience, he noted that form, fitness, and motivation will be decisive factors.

At the launch of Kayo Sport’s Summer of Cricket in Sydney, Shastri said the series against Australia will act as a benchmark for both players.

“That is why they are here (playing the ODI series against Australia). They are part of the mix. It depends on their fitness, their hunger and, of course, form. So, I think this series is very important to see how they go," he said.
