The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday said that rainfall activity is expected to remain active over southern India in the coming days, even as the southwest monsoon continues its retreat from several parts of the country. According to the weather agency, enhanced rainfall, with isolated heavy showers, is likely to continue over Kerala and Tamil Nadu during the next seven days.
The southwest monsoon has now further withdrawn from parts of Karnataka and Telangana, most areas of Maharashtra, and the entire regions of Goa, Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Sikkim. It has also retreated from remaining areas of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar, as well as most parts of Chhattisgarh and some areas of Odisha and the northeastern states.
