STATESVILLE — The NC Grange has named David Allen as the organization’s new president, replacing Jimmy Gentry upon his retirement in September. Allen has served as a member of the board of directors for 18 years and the past four years as the Grange’s vice president.
Allen is a native of Mooresville and retired in 2017 as chief of the Cleveland Police Department after a 30-year career in law enforcement. During his leadership, Allen was involved in the NC Police Executives Association and served on their board of directors for 10 years. He served as president of the association from 2011 to 2012.
Allen and his wife, Crystal, own and operate Tranquility Farm, a vineyard where they grow muscadines and blackberries. The operation sells products such as juices, jellies, muscadine slushies, c
