Trains between Dumfries and Carlisle have been disrupted due to cows on the line. ‌

The problems began just before 9am this morning and passengers have been warned the disruption could continue for the next few hours. ‌

ScotRail reported that the 8.54am service between Carlisle and Dumfries had to be stopped "due to cows on the line", with the animals spotted on the tracks between Gretna Green and Annan. ‌

The X post added: "We're working with the local farmer to help move the cows off the railway."
