**Arrest in 30-Year-Old Murder Case of Lindsay Rimer**
A man has denied the murder of 13-year-old Lindsay Rimer, whose body was discovered in a canal over three decades ago. West Yorkshire Police provided an update on the case today, revealing that the suspect was arrested at an unnamed prison in the UK, where he was already serving a sentence for other offences.
Lindsay went missing in November 1994 after she left her home in Hebden Bridge to buy cornflakes. Her disappearance sparked a significant investigation, culminating in the discovery of her body in a canal shortly thereafter.
Detective Chief Inspector James Entwistle, the Senior Investigating Officer, stated, “We remain very firmly committed to doing everything we can to get justice for Lindsay, and to give her family the answers they still so desperately need after all these years.” He emphasised that the recent arrest is part of the ongoing efforts to advance the investigation.
Entwistle added, “We are keeping Lindsay’s family updated and, while we appreciate the understandable public interest that today’s arrest will bring, we do not anticipate any immediate developments at this stage.”
Despite the passage of time, police believe there may still be individuals with crucial information regarding the case. Entwistle urged anyone with knowledge to come forward, stating, “Although it is now more than thirty years since Lindsay was murdered, we remain convinced there is someone out there who has vital information that could finally help to ease her family’s pain, and we urge them to do the right thing and tell us what they know.”
The investigation into Lindsay Rimer's murder continues as authorities seek to provide closure for her family and the community affected by this tragic event.
