Ally McCoist struggled to understand Steven Gerrard's decision to reject a return to Rangers, but suggested a potential reason for it.

After appearing set to take charge at Ibrox for a second time, Liverpool icon Gerrard performed a dramatic late U-turn on Saturday night as he took himself out of the running .

The legendary former midfielder enjoyed a previous successful stint in Glasgow, where he won the Scottish Premiership in 2020/21, but has ruled out any further titles for the time being.
