Steven Gerrard has finally spoken out on social media after rejecting Rangers - sending his best wishes to former Ibrox colleague Ross Wilson following his appointment at Newcastle.

The Liverpool icon was the top pick for Andrew Cavenagh and his squad to replace Russell Martin, but after two days of talks in London, Gerrard decided the timing wasn't right for a comeback to the club.

The search now goes back to square one with bosses including Danny Rohl, Slaven Bilic and Raphael Wicky amongst those thought to be in serious contention. Meanwhile, Gerrard heads back to his family home in Bahrain to continue his break from management.
