A man has been arrested after a young boy was injured in a hit-and-run in Coventry . He was said to have been struck by a VW Golf in Walsgrave yesterday afternoon (October 12).

Officers cordoned off Wigston Road at the junction with Chaceley Close at around 3.15pm. Paramedics were called and reportedly found that an 11-year-old boy had been hit by a Volkswagen Golf .

He sustained serious injuries, including a broken foot and bruising, and was rushed to University Hospital Coventry . He continues to be treated for his injuries today (October 13).

Dad Ricky Turley said he was walking along Wigston Road with his 11-year-old son when the youngster was struck by the VW . Police launched a major investigation and detained a 19-year-old man at around 2.30am today (October 13).
