It's been confirmed that a couple who called 911 reporting serious health symptoms had been suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning.
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office says dispatchers were called around 10:30 p.m. Sunday by a 47-year-old woman who said she had symptoms consistent with a heart attack at her home in rural Garfield, while her 49-year-old husband had just started experiencing a seizure.
The couple were ordered to immediately leave their home, with the dispatcher recognizing the symptoms as that of possible CO poisoning. Deputies arriving at the scene then learned from the couple that they had just started using their furnace for the season.
Both were taken to Alomere Health before being airlifted by Life Link for further treatment.
