The Duke of York, aka Prince Andrew , Earl of Inverness and Baron Killyleagh, can now, it would seem, add another name to his clutch of titles: Liar.

Six years ago, in his now infamous Newsnight interview , he looked Emily Maitlis square in the eye and declared that he had no further contact with the convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein after his visit in December 2010, when he flew to New York to end their friendship.

Now, if the latest email unearthed in court documents is correct , it transpires that Andrew wrote to Epstein in February 2011 after a picture was published of the Duke with one of Epstein’s most high-profile victims, the late Virginia Giuffre .
