CASCO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Two people were rescued from a sinking boat in Lake Michigan Sunday, officials say.

It happened Sunday afternoon off the shore of the Casco Township Nature Preserve, located at 770 Blue Star Memorial Highway near 107th Avenue in Casco Township.

A 37-foot cruiser was sinking, the South Haven Area Emergency Services said in a social media post.

The Saugatuck Fire Department and the U.S. Coast Guard rescued two people from the sinking boat, with SHAES assisting using its drone.

It's unclear what happened to the boat and why it started sinking.
