LIVONIA, Mich. (WOOD) — A now-former Battle Creek police officer asked a hotel front desk manager to call the police after he allegedly pointed a gun at a fellow officer after drinking in a Livonia hotel, according to newly obtained case documents.

Last week, Battle Creek Police Department Chief Shannon Bagley confirmed the May incident to News 8.

According to the police report, Hunter Barnett and other officers were staying at a Holiday Inn Express hotel on Schoolcraft Road in Livonia during a May training trip.

Barnett had several drinks with his coworkers in a hotel room the night of Thursday, May 15. His roommate, a fellow officer, said Barnett had drunk four fifths of Bacardi rum since Sunday, when the group arrived.
