Former U.S. president Joe Biden is undergoing radiation and hormone therapy as part of his treatment for prostate cancer, his spokesperson confirmed on Saturday.

The 82-year-old announced in May that he had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of the disease, which has spread to his bones. His office said the new stage of treatment will continue for about five weeks.

“As part of a treatment plan for prostate cancer, President Biden is currently undergoing radiation therapy and hormone treatment,” his spokesperson said in a written statement released Saturday.
