COLUMBUS — A Columbus police officer is being commended for his swift and decisive actions that saved the life of an unresponsive infant late last month.

Sgt. Brandon Decker received a letter of commendation from Police Chief Steve Norman on Thursday for the incident that occurred on September 26th.

According to the Columbus Police Department, Decker was dispatched to an apartment on Salzburg Drive following an emergency call about an unresponsive baby. Upon arrival, officers found the infant was not breathing and appeared lethargic.
