BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) -- Google announced Monday that it will invest an additional $9 billion in South Carolina through 2027 to support its cloud and artificial intelligence infrastructure.

The investment will fund an expansion of the tech giant's Berkeley County campus, as well as the continued construction of the company's two new data center campuses in Dorchester County.

Officials said once complete, the Lowcountry facilities are expected to help strengthen the cloud's South Carolina region, which is part of a global network of 42 cloud regions delivering reliable, low-latency services to Google users and Google Cloud customers worldwide.
