A group of eight Indian nationals arrested by Canada's Peel Regional Police (PRP) for allegedly stealing over $400,000 worth of mail in a large-scale theft operation is now facing possible deportation. The group systematically targeted residential mailboxes in Mississauga and Brampton. PRP is collaborating with the Crown Attorney's Office and Canada Border Services Agency to explore deportation proceedings for the accused.
The arrests were made after a months-long joint investigation with Halton Regional Police and Canada Post. The probe was launched in April this year following numerous reports of mail theft in Peel Region's residential areas. Authorities alleged the group coordinated to target community mailboxes.
