CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - South Carolina has seen another drop in gas prices for the second week in a row as national prices close in on an average below $3 per gallon.

The current average gas price in the state is down by a penny per gallon, leaving the mean gas price at $2.74 to start the week.

Those prices are 3.8 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and 12 cents per gallon lower than a year ago.

The lowest gas price in the state over the weekend was $2.41 per gallon while the most expensive was $3.87 per gallon.

In the Lowcountry, the cheapest gallon of gas as of Monday morning was once again available at the 215 Saint James Avenue Walmart in Goose Creek and selling for $2.53.
