BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) — A man was killed in a hit-and-run in Battle Creek early Sunday morning, police said in a statement.

While responding to reports of a crash near Renton Road and Watkins Road, Battle Creek Police discovered an abandoned car and a pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle. A 36-year-old pedestrian was pronounced dead at the crash scene.

Police arrested a 29-year-old man Sunday afternoon on charges of committing a hit-and-run causing death. He is being held at Calhoun County Jail awaiting arraignment, police said in a release. The suspect's name has not been released.
