CINCINNATI (WXIX) - Police are investigating after a shooting Friday left a 5-year-old dead and a 27-year-old injured, according to Dayton police.

Police said that officers responded to a shooting just before 9:30 p.m. along the 3000 block of Nicholas Road. When they arrived, they found a 27-year-old man and his 5-year-old daughter with gunshot wounds.

The father and daughter were both sitting in their vehicle when their car was hit with numerous rounds of gunfire.

Both were taken to the hospital, but the 5-year-old girl died. The father was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
