BEAUMONT, Texas — Four men reported being shot at near the Lamar University campus early Saturday morning, prompting a joint response from Lamar Police and Beaumont Police.

The incident happened around 1:30 a.m. Saturday in the area of East Virginia and Hartel a block west of the campus, according to a news release from the Beaumont Police Department. Lamar University Police Department officers responded to reports of shots fired and found four men standing near a vehicle, according to the release.

The men fled on foot when they saw police officers arrive, but officers found all four a short distance away and returned them to the scene. No injuries were reported.
