BEECH GROVE, Texas — Multiple fire departments worked together Monday afternoon to contain several roadside fires along Highway 63 West between FM 1747 and County Road 082, according to a Facebook post from the Beech Grove Volunteer Fire Department.
At 2:35 p.m., Beech Grove VFD was dispatched to assist Angelina River Fire and Rescue after reports of multiple fires burning beside the highway, some of which spread into nearby woods. Crews quickly began fire attack operations and halted the fires’ forward progression within about 45 minutes.
During firefighting efforts, Highway 63 West between FM 1747 and County Road 082 was temporarily closed to traffic to ensure the safety of first responders. The roadway reopened at 4:30 p.m.
