Brenda Hankins couldn't be in the courtroom when the man who killed her granddaughter and two of his own family members in a high-speed crash was being sentenced. Hankins was at the hospital to be with her other granddaughter, who was giving birth.
Later, she would learn that Marion Superior Court Judge Jennifer Prinz Harrison sentenced the man to two years in prison followed by seven years on home detention — less prison time than the man's defense attorney had asked for as a maximum sentence.
