TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - As National Collection Week approaches, nearly 5,000 drop-off locations will open nationwide for Operation Christmas Child from Nov. 17 to Nov. 24. Local drop-off points in Tucson and throughout Arizona are ready to receive shoebox gifts.
Operation Christmas Child, a project by Samaritan's Purse, has been delivering gift-filled shoeboxes to children affected by war, poverty, disease, and disaster since 1993. This year, they aim to reach 12 million children worldwide.
Franklin Graham, president of Samaritan’s Purse, emphasized the mission's spiritual focus.
“Samaritan’s Purse works around the world to help people in need, but it’s not about good works— it’s about the Gospel,” Graham said.
