One person was injured in a home explosion in Hibbing on Sunday.

According to the Hibbing Fire Department, the explosion occurred on the 2200 block of 9th Avenue East at 6:38 p.m. Sunday, with first responders arriving at the "chaotic" scene to find the two-story home fully engulfed in flames.

"One person was transported to Fairview Range for medical treatment," fire officials said. The extent of the individual's injuries hasn't been disclosed.

The fire spread to a neighboring home before firefighters were able to contain the blaze by approximately 9:15 p.m.

During the firefighting efforts, the entire block was evacuated, according to WDIO.

Hibbing High School is located across the street from the home that exploded, though the fire didn't reached the school grounds.
