SPRING LAKE, N.C. — Fayetteville Technical Community College's Spring Lake campus was placed on code red lockdown on Monday morning.
The school's website said that college officials got a report of a possible active shooter on campus. The lockdown was enacted around 9:50 a.m. and lifted just after 11 a.m.
FTCC student Chloe Castleman said she hid in a closet with classmates after hearing gunshots while walking to class.
"My whole class was in the closet," Castleman said. "We heard more gunshots. We heard something downstairs. I was on the phone with the dispatcher, the dispatcher said police are not there yet, so take cover, don't open doors. We heard a couple more gunshots, police get here and they all escort us out."
As of 12 p.m., there are no confirmed reports from law enforcement
