Monday, Oct. 13, is Columbus Day, a federal holiday, and Indigenous Peoples’ Day. Banks, post offices and more are closed.

Though in other Western states like California and Oregon , Indigenous Peoples Day is recognized on the second Monday of October, the effort to honor native peoples as an official holiday was vetoed by Gov. Joe Lombardo during the last legislative session. Instead, Indigenous Peoples Day is celebrated on Aug. 9 in Nevada.
