ORANGE, Texas — County Judge John Gothia issued an outdoor burn ban effective 9 a.m. Monday for all of Orange County as increasingly dry conditions heighten wildfire risk in the region.

All outdoor burning is strictly prohibited in unincorporated areas of the county until further notice. The ban will remain in effect for seven days unless terminated earlier if conditions improve.

"This burn ban is necessary to reduce the potential for dangerous wildfires during this period of drought," Gothia said. "We are asking all residents to comply with the ban for the safety of the community."
