MADISON, Wis. -- They've got some climbing to do, but the Wisconsin men's basketball team is on the board to begin the 2025-26 season. The Badgers opened up at No. 24 in the Associated Press preseason poll released Monday.

Greg Gard's squad is coming off of a season that exceeded expectations in some ways, with the Badgers only narrowly losing to Michigan in the Big Ten Championship game, however reaching the second weekend of the NCAA Tournament continues to be a white whale for the team.

The Badgers have not made it past the second round of the tournament since 2017, when they suffered a heartbreaking overtime loss to No. 4-seed Florida in the Sweet Sixteen.

This year's squad will have a new look thanks to transfers and graduations, but the Badgers are expected to remain competitive.
