Charlotte-Mecklenburg police were investigating a shooting early Monday that claimed the life of a woman in south Charlotte.

The shooting was reported shortly before 7 a.m. at an apartment building in the 4400 block of Barclay Downs Drive, near SouthPark Mall.

The authorities did not immediately release the woman’s name or say what led to the shooting, and no arrest was announced.

The shooting was the second in two days.

On Sunday, shortly after 7 p.m., homicide detectives were sent to investigate a homicide in the 5009 block of Beatties Ford Road, where a male victim was found with a gunshot wound. MEDIC pronounced him dead at the scene.

CMPD did not release the victim’s name or say what led to the shooting.
