Aiming to continue support for a crucial local institution, the Friends of the Jefferson Parish Library will once again hold the Big Book Sale Oct. 24-26 at the Pontchartrain Center on Williams Boulevard at Lake Pontchartrain in Kenner.

Organized by volunteers, this is one of the largest book sales in the New Orleans area offering more than 65,000 items.

Up for sale will be gently used adult and children's books, puzzles, DVDs, CDs, and records, most priced from 50 cents to $3.

A selection of special, high-value books will be auctioned.

Admission to the sale and parking are free. Hours are 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Oct. 24 and 25, and noon to 5 p.m. Oct. 26.

Proceeds benefit Jefferson Parish public libraries.
