SWAIN COUNTY, N.C. (FOX Carolina) - The Swain County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man following a rollover vehicle accident on Thursday.

Officials said the incident happened at Country Girls Campground on Hyatt Creek Road. Deputies found a red 2012 Jeep Wrangler on its side with significant damage to a nearby fence. The driver, 23-year-old Myles Simpson of Bryson City, NC, was removed from the vehicle by EMS.

An investigation revealed that the Jeep had been taken without permission.

According to deputies, witnesses reported that a woman was dragged by the vehicle while attempting to stop the suspect from taking it. She was taken to Swain County Hospital for treatment. Another resident also tried to intervene and was dragged approximately 100 feet.
