2PHILADELPHIA, PA – A 17-year-old male is facing murder charges after police say he opened fire during a daylight shooting that left a 16-year-old dead and a young woman wounded in Northeast Philadelphia on Saturday afternoon.

The shooting occurred around 3:54 p.m. near Teesdale and Frontenac Streets.

Officers arrived to find 16-year-old Xzavier Gregory unresponsive from a gunshot wound to the chest.

He was taken to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 4:12 p.m.

Second victim found blocks away

A second victim, an 18-year-old woman, was discovered inside a laundromat on the 1700 block of Glendale Avenue suffering from a gunshot wound to the ankle. Police said she was hospitalized in stable condition.
