HURT, Va. (WDBJ) - Pittsylvania County has issued a public safety alert regarding the search for a man considered “armed and dangerous”.

The Sheriff’s Office has not yet provided information on the circumstances of the case.

The following is the text message sent at 2:42 p.m. Monday via the Pittsylvania County Emergency Alert System:

Please be on the lookout for a Ellis Lambert, 5ft 8 inches, 195 lbs. Green eyes, gray hair, and gray beard. Wearing full camo. He is to be considered armed and dangerous. If sighted do not approach and contact 911 immediately.

Lambert was last reported seen in the Shula Drive area of Hurt.
