A former student stabbed three staff members at a school in Torrance Monday morning and made threats that he'd hidden pipe bombs, police said.

The stabbing was reported at about 8:30 a.m. at Switzer Learning Center, 2201 Amapola Court, said Lt. Ahmad of the Torrance Police Department.

In addition to the three people wounded, the former student tried to stab a fourth before fleeing. He was taken into custody soon thereafter.

Two of those stabbed were taken to Harbor General Hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening wounds. The third was treated on scene.

The former student who assaulted them, meanwhile, also made threats of pipe bombs placed about a block away at 208th Street and Amapola Avenue, police said.
