NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The Metro Nashville Police Department has linked the 2004 discovery of a skull in the city to a woman’s disappearance nearly 40 years ago.

Police said that an unidentified skull, which was found in February 2004, has been positively matched to Alice Mae Sullivan, who went missing 39 years ago.

“Continued follow up on a missing persons investigation led to a piece of closure for the family of 20-year-old TSU student and mother, Alice Mae Sullivan, 39 years after she went missing,” MNPD said.

In August 1986, Sullivan failed to pick up her 3-year-old son from a babysitter’s house after she attended class that morning. She was reported missing by her parents the next day.
