As a way to help residents avoid becoming victims of car theft, the Erie County District Attorney's Office compiled a comprehensive list of how to stay safe during the spooky season.

According to the DA's office, criminals are more likely to strike if they know that you're preoccupied doing something else, such as shopping at the mall or going to the gym.

During these times, the DA's office recommends hiding valuables you may keep in your car, along with parking in different locations each time you go out.
