COLUMBIA, S.C. (WCBD) -- Hundreds of thousands of dollars are already pouring into the race for South Carolina governor, as the latest campaign finance reports show the GOP candidates locked in a tight contest.

The five Republicans seeking to succeed Gov. Henry McMaster (R), who cannot run again due to term limits, collectively raised nearly $5 million last quarter, according to data from the State Ethics Commission.

Alan Wilson

Attorney General Alan Wilson raised nearly $1.3 million and spent approximately $214,000 in the period between July 1 and September 30, according to his third-quarter filing.
