MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (WCBD) — A Moncks Corner business owner says flooding on his property has gone from bad to worse, and he blames new homes built right behind his lot.
For more than 20 years, Art Nichols has owned and operated Nichols Equipment off Highway 52. He said the problems began after the latest phase of a nearby neighborhood went up behind his business on land that was once wetlands.
“When I bought this place, everything behind me was wetlands,” Nichols said. “Now they’ve built these homes, they put up this fence, now I have a water problem.”
Nichols said the flooding leaves his lot too wet to use after heavy rain, damaging the ground and costing him hundreds of dollars to maintain.
