An 80-year-old Virginia woman died Oct. 12 after the car she was riding in crashed into a cement wall while exiting the parking garage at the Graduate Hotel in downtown Bloomington.

The accident happened at 11:40 a.m. Sunday. The hotel address is 210 E. Kirkwood Ave. and the parking garage entrance and exit is around the corner, off Washington Street.

According to a Bloomington Police Department report, an 84-year-old man driving a 2025 Hyundai Kona SUV was going down a steep ramp leading out of the garage when his foot slipped off the brake pedal and the vehicle accelerated, crashing into a cement wall near the stop-arm gate.
